What to see
- The neo-Gothic castle in Opinogóra, the former residence of the Krasiński family.
- The Museum of Romanticism, with keepsakes of Zygmunt Krasiński, one of Poland's three great Romantic bards.
- The landscape park by the castle, good for a slow walk.
- The Gothic brick castle of the Mazovian dukes in Ciechanów.
- Ciechanów's old town and market square.
Where to eat
Opinogóra and Ciechanów have simple, home-style places serving Polish food: chicken broth, pierogi, pork cutlet and Mazovian cakes. Many spots close early or on weekdays outside the season, so lunch in Ciechanów or pack a picnic for the park. Take a thermos of tea and something sweet too, since there are few shops between the two castles.
